Libertad Barrón Palos is a Ph.D. in Physics by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM (2005). She performed a posdoctoral stage at Arizona State University and as a visitor at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2005-2007). Since November 2007 she has been a professor at the Institute of Physics of UNAM. Dr. Barrón-Palos area of specialization is fundamental neutron physics; she is part of 7 international collaborations that aim to resolve some of the main puzzles in contemporary physics, as the mater-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe, the formation of light elements in the early Universe, the scheme of three families of quarks in the Standard Model, the hadronic weak interaction, the search for possible exotic interactions, the nature of dartk matter, among others. She has also performed outstanding studies of nuclear reactions that are of interest in astrophysics. She has published 15 regular papers, 28 conference proceeding and her work has been cited more than 200 times. She has directed 4 M.Sc. and 3 undergraduate theses. Libertad has been president of the Division of Nuclear Physics of the Mexican Physical Society and Teaching Coordinator of the Institute of Physics of UNAM.
