Libertad Barrón Palos has a Doctor of Science (Physics) degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2005). She completed a postdoctoral stay at Arizona State University and as a visitor at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2005-2007). Since November 2007 she has been a researcher at the UNAM Physics Institute. Her area of expertise is fundamental physics with neutrons; is part of several international collaborations that seek to solve some of the main enigmas in contemporary physics, such as the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe, the scheme of three families of quarks in the standard model, the hadronic weak interaction, the search for possible exotic interactions, the nature of dark matter, among others. She has also stood out for the study of cross sections of nuclear reactions that are relevant to astrophysics.
