EDUCATION Ph.D. in Physics (Materials Science) from the University of Paris 7, France. Ph.D. Thesis: “Correlation between the oxygen composition, the physical properties and the growth mechanisms of superconducting YBaCuO thin films”. M. Sc. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Paris 7, France. Bachelor Degree in Physics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM). Additional research experience. 2001 – 2002 Visiting Scholar for one year (2001-2002) at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA, colaborating in the project “Fabrication and modification of nanostructures using ion beams”. 2008 – 2009 Visiting Scholar for one year (2008-2009) at the University of Seville (Spain). PRIMARY RESEARCH INTEREST: 1) Design and fabrication of nanometer-sized ordered structures. 2) Synthesis of nanoparticles by ion implantation in dielectric materials or by chemical methods (sol-gel). 3) Controlled shape deformation of nanoparticles by means of ion irradiation. 4) Tailoring and characterization of the nanoparticle properties for various applications. 5) Characterization and modification of a wide range of materials using ion beam techniques. 6) More than 25 years of experience working with MeV ion accelerators (ion implantation, RBS, NRA, channeling).
