Expert in string phenomenology and physics beyond the Standard Model. He holds a physics degree from UNAM and a Ph.D. from the University of Bonn. After a postdoc at DESY, he joined UNAM in 2010. He is Level 3 in the SNII and Level D in UNAM’s PRIDE program. He has published 67 articles, a textbook, and 3 peer-reviewed book chapters. He developed two programs to build a large collection of string models for particle physics and introduced the concept of eclectic symmetries in flavor physics. He has supervised 4 PhDs, 12 master’s students, and 18 undergraduates (16 in physics, 2 in math). He has taught over 30 undergraduate and graduate courses, plus others for high school teachers. As a science communicator, he has given outreach talks, organized national/international events, and founded the "Veranos Teóricos" competition and the GAE program. He writes popular science articles for magazines and the GAEUNAM Facebook portal. At the Graduate Program (PCF), he has served as academic secretary, tutor representative, director’s delegate, and field coordinator. At the Institute of Physics, he has been teaching coordinator, department head, and since 2023, academic secretary. He was a Junior Associate of the ICTP and has received the August-Wilhelm Scheer Chair (TUM), the Marcos Moshinsky Chair, and UNAM’s RDUNJA award.
