    We'll start our tour for the city visiting the Soledad Church; which is call the patrona of Oaxaca. It is a famous and beautiful building of the sixteen century

    The Basilica de la Soledad in Oaxaca City is the most important religious site in the entire state of Oaxaca. Architecturally, it is notable for its 24-m (79-ft) high Baroque facade and its heavily gilded interior. The basilica was built between 1682 and 1690 to house the holy image of the Virgin of Solitude (Soledad), Oaxaca's patron saint. The statue stands inside the church, decorated with 600 diamonds and topped with a 4-lb gold crown. Her vestments are encrusted with pearls. In the 1980s robbers removed her jewel-studded crown; she now has a replica of the original and stands in a glass-covered shrine. Many locals come to pray before the image, as she is believed to have the power to heal and work miracles. A major festival on December 18 honors the Virgin, attracting the faithful from all over Oaxaca.

    After the Soledad Church, we are going to visit the chocolate factory in the market 20 de Noviembre, they are going to show you to process to get the chocolate and the different kind of mezclas.

    SANTO DOMINGO DE GUZMÁN A most outstanding construction built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It constitutes one of the finest examples of Mexican Baroque. Oaxacan artisans using finely carved wood covered with gold leaf made the splendid altarpiece. During the 18th century Santo Domingo expanded acquiring a vast number of works of art until it became a magnificent symbol of three centuries of viceroyalty in Oaxaca.

    CULTURAL MUSEUM Containing the history and traditions of Oaxaca, from the earliest nomadic people to the many indigenous groups of more recent times. Among other articles refined prehispanic treasures such as the one from tomb 7 at Monte Alban.

    THE CATHEDRAL OF THE VIRGIN OF THE ASSUMPTION North side of the Zócalo and on the eastern side of the Alameda Construction of the Bishop's Palace began early (1553) during the conquest. Earthquakes of 1694 and 1714 gravely damaged the building. The baroque faca de has been restored. The interior has a rich collection of paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries. The clock mounted on the south tower was added later (1755) as a gift from the King of Spain. There are 14 chapels inside and the most famous is dedicated to 'El Señor del Rayo.' The cross hung in this chapel comes from the original Cathedral and was the only object not incinerated when a lighting bolt set fire to the church. Other prominent chapels are Santa Cruz de Huatulco and Los Beatos.

    ANDADOR TURÍSTICO Paved with green hewn stone it joins El Zócalo, many colonial buildings, art galleries, restaurants, craft shops and Santo Domingo Church. It is located on the street named after a famous Oaxacan musician Macedonio Alcala. Strolling along this passage is a pleasant experience you should not miss.

    ZÓCALO AND EX GOVERNMENT PALACE This lovely park it's the geographical and social center of the city, in the early evening either the state band or marimba musical groups play in the central gazebo. Full of life with vendors, students, tourist and local people it's the ideal place just to sit and relax.

    THE TEXTIL MUSEUM of Oaxaca celebrated its Grand Opening in April of 2008 with an exhibit entitled, "From Mitla to Sumatra: The Art of the Woven Fret," featuring handmade indigenous clothing from Iran to Burma.

    In this museum, we can see the tipical textiles from Santo Tomas Jalieza - Teotitlán - Santa Ana Zegache, etc.

    20 DE NOVIEMBRE AND BENITO JUAREZ MARKETS In this markets we can see the gastronomy of Oaxaca, We can find the famous chapulines which this tipical food has a big legend, people say that when a turist eat it, always come back to Oaxaca, also we can try a prehispanic drink ,we call tejate, there are also Quesillo, Queso, Chocolate, etc.
