One Just World is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 by   Dr. Karo Michaelian   with the purpose of promoting a non-corporate, international and scientific vision of social democracy and social justice. The organization is intended to be completely open and will consider all aspects of international politics concerning social justice and democracy. The emphasis at the organization is on a scientific foundation for social justice, taking into account the complexities of human nature. Views based on religion, race, or creed are not supported by the organization. Active participation of social and physical scientists and critical thinkers alike is solicited.

Introduction

Intelligence, combined with the essentially individualistic nature of the human species has made it the most adaptive of all the species on the globe.  This is surely the reason why humans have come to dominate the biosphere, but also why humans have tremendous difficulty living in societies. The formation of human society was, without a doubt, a most important factor in the recent increase in adaptation of humans to a hostile environment (as demonstrated by the recent dramatic increase in the human population).  This innovation for the human species is still in its infantile stage of development. Humans know why they should behave in a certain manner so as to maintain cohesion of society, but their individual instinct still provides an irresistible calling. So strong is this calling, and so destructive to the society is its effects that humans have invented many societal institutions to castigate rebels. Religion, ethics, a police state and a scientific education enforce good social behavior. Every so often these institutions must be replaced by stronger more appropriate institutions or the very existence of society will be questioned. In other species, the society is not a recent invention and societal behavioral characteristics have been selected and are programmed into instinct, dissenters are simply mutations.

Given that human society has been founded on human intelligence and not through natural selection, the need for an objective, scientific understanding of society, social democracy and social justice is critically important. At this stage in our societal development, technology and a market oriented economic system have created a global system of privileged and abused. Justice in most countries is commonly bought. Reason and "being right" are the monopoly of the economically or militarily powerful.

If an objective sense of social justice based on science is not promoted, the world runs again the risk of heading down the same treacherous path of ignorance, bigotry and arrogance. One nation again rising to singular military and economic superpower status. This state of affairs is even more dangerous today than it was in the past since a tremendous amount of weapons of mass destruction have been stockpiled in many countries of the world. These weapons and the technology which can be employed to deliver them is also inequitably distributed among only the economically powerful nations, meaning the limited possibility of retaliation, and hence the greater the temptation to use them.

At the same time, the divide between the rich and poor nations is increasing at an alarming rate. On all fronts, from technology to health, the poorest nations are regressing, or at best are stagnant, while the richest nations use the present economic system to increase their expression at the expense of the rest of the world. The marginalization of the poor countries in the world politic means that this situation may become the status quo for many years in the future, translating into endless wars and suffering for a large segment of the worlds population.

There is only one possible escape from this scenario; that the progressive and critically thinking people of this world unite in an effort to promote social justice from a scientific perspective.

The principle objective of the organization One Just world (OJW) is to sponsor a scientific view of social justice stripped of all the prerogatives and biases of the existing economic or ideological dictatorships. Such a view should be based on science and independent of religion, race, or creed.
