Micellar solution between two cross polarizers with a stainless steel planar lab spatula dipping into the liquid. Prior to
introducing the stainless steel spatula, the fluid is dark since light cannot pass through as in an isotropic fluid. However, as the spatula
is introduced into the liquid, the fluid flows, as a result of the applied shear, and birefringence is clearly observed.

L2_L"2 phase transition in the C21 fatty acid monolayer at T=2.2 °C and
lateral pressure of 5.3 mN/m. The L2 is the phase before the transition,
and after the front of change passes, we observe the L''2. Image width ~850 μm.

Shear induced structures (SIS) in worm-like micellar solutions during a thixotropic loop
at high shear rates (original speed of the film was reduced at half). Bright stripes
formed by bundles of strong interacting worm-like micelles are observed by light
scattering in a sheared fluid placed in the gap of a transparent Couette cell.

Formation of Jets: Free fall of an Hg drop against the super mercuryphobic surface. Adhesion with the surface is so small, that a jet is formed and a tiny drop of Hg is ejected. Video taken at 1000 frames per second.
